The GIFS Initiative closing event: last event of the year in Mumbai
The GIFS Initiative closed a year of activity with a hybrid seminar in Mumbai on November 28, 2022. Opened by Mr. Rémy Rioux, CEO of AFD, Mr. Sivasubramanian Ramann, Chairman & Managing Director of SIDBI, and Mr. Koyel Kumar Mandal, Chief of Programme at Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, this seminar aimed at gathering the GIFS community to discuss about the achievements of the year and milestones for 2023. It also aimed at offering once again a medium for knowledge and experience sharing, as well as networking between Indian, French and European experts and practitioners.
The session alternated between high-level panels covering the integration of climate-related financial risks, climate-finance considerations at the eve of the G20, or on the importance of international cooperation.
At the occasion of this seminar, the GIFS Initiative also announced the launch of the GroW network – Greening of Finance by Women, a sister initiative from the GIFS that aims at fostering women’s participation in greening the financial system. The network will be key ensuring that the value and visibility of women professionals in the field is enhanced and will help reinforce and capitalize on the gender axis of the sector.
Speakers among the policy-makers, regulators and supervisors such as Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, French Treasury or French Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs, were there to exchange with representatives from the banking sector (State Bank of India, IndusInd Bank, ) and domestic and international organizations (Climate Bonds Initiative, OECD, European Commission, Observatoire de l Finance Climat,…).
